The Brewing Dutchman

Growing hops

No beer without hops!
I started with ‘bare root’ hops—plants harvested in the fall, stripped of soil, and kept cool and dormant until they’re ready to ship.
In their first year, I planted the hops in planters repurposed from old barrels from my brewery—a small nod to sustainability and tradition.
I chose several hop varieties to experiment with and see which ones thrive best in the Swedish climate. Brewing combined with a bit of gardening.
